Tasmanian Inchman Ant (Myrmecia Esuriens)
Myrmecia Esuriens is a species of bull ant endemic to Tasmania. These ants are unique due to the fact that they have ergatoid queens. This means that queens of this species do not have wings and do not have nuptial flights like other ants. Myrmecia Esuriens need a form of substrate in their nest/test tube to help the larvae spin their cocoons. It is very important that these ants are handled with care as they can sting (see more in description).
